The Composer Circle
The CC is a small cohort of people who are committed to growing as creative humans and encouraging each other in this endeavor. It is led by Tobias Reber who serves as coach and moderator and, where appropriate, as a teacher.
At this time, the group mainly consists of musicians, but all interested artist of all levels are welcome. Participants' prior experience ranges from relative beginner to PhD. All participants are asked and welcome to bring their full selves in a spirit of openness, generosity and companionship.
The focus is on nurturing our sense of play, honing and building trust in our intuition, and learning the skills required to express ourselves creatively. This entails at times philosophical discussion and reading, analysing music and works of art and thinking about principles to apply in our own practice. At other times we are focused on learning specific techniques or dissecting each other's works-in-progress.
The CC grew out of the weekly Composing with Max seminars on algorithmic composition that were held during the pandemic in 2020-2021.
The group holds weekly Zoom meetings on Mondays 8-10pm CET and has a dedicated forum to continue the conversation during the week.
Participants pay a monthly fee. There is a standard rate, and some pay a little extra so others can pay a little less. If we have available space and it's clear that you could benefit from the CC, we've got you.
